Te hepetoma o te Reo Tahiti

A week dedicated to celebrating the beauty, richness and importance of the Tahitian language.

Reo Tahiti Language week

What is the Reo Tahiti Language Week?

Reo Tahiti Language Week is an opportunity to celebrate, promote and strengthen the Tahitian language. It is a time to reconnect with our roots, share our knowledge, and encourage the use of Reo Tahiti in our everyday lives.

Our language carries our history, traditions, stories, values and identity. Through conversations, learning, cultural activities and shared experiences, we celebrate the importance of keeping Reo Tahiti alive and passing it on to future generations.

Matariʻi i niʻa

Te Tau ʻAuhune - The Season of Abundance

Introducing this year's theme:

Phrase per day

Days

Matariʻi i niʻa marks the rising of the Pleiades star cluster and traditionally signals a season of abundance in Māʻohi Nui.

It is associated with the return of plentiful food, the richness of the land and sea, and a time of celebration, gratitude and sharing.

Just as nature provides abundance, our language is also a treasure that deserves to be nurtured, shared and passed down.
